Why did I chose to be a virtual assistant?

How did I started to have the idea of working as a virtual assistant? Work from home?

Let me share my story…

I am a nurse by profession. But I am not working as a nurse. You might be asking why? Simply because, nurses here in the Philippines are underpaid. Most of my nursing colleagues were already working abroad and making good money. I think most of us had this “American dream” or if not, “working abroad as a nurse” is the answer to a good paying job. Yes, it’s true. Nurses can make good money by working abroad but it would depend on what country you chose to go to. Don’t get me wrong. I am only speaking for myself and for my friends who were already working outside the country.

Nursing is not my first option during the college entrance exam. I was just undecided during those times and followed the footsteps of my elder sister who was also a nursing student that time. That’s why i changed my mind and also followed my parent’s advice who were waiting for their US petition to be processed. To make the long story short, I am not included in the US petition anymore because the children below 21 years old only would be included in it. Hence, I studied nursing and graduated last March 2008. Nevertheless, i am happy to be a nurse and I met a lot of friends that made my college days valuable and worthwhile.

Last but not the least, I got married to my sweet and loving boyfriend last June 2015. We were blessed with a baby girl and I gave birth 10 months ago. I must say, being a mom is a very noble job. I came to appreciate women who give their best as a mom and wife. I cried thinking how my mom went through in order for me and my siblings to become who we are right now. I am just very thankful that my mom is simply the best at what she do. She inspires me to do my best in everything that I do.

This gave me the idea that I can also work even if I’m staying at home taking care of my family. Computer, mobile phones and other gadgets can be used as a tool in online marketing. The old days are gone. People can run a business while working at home. Technology is a way for us to work productively and sufficiently. That’s why I chose to be a virtual assistant. It caters to a lot of client needs. Being a virtual assistant has a lot of tasks in general. Some of the skills were data entry, transcription, internet research, MS Office, project management, email management, personal virtual assistant, social media management and social media marketing, etc. By learning a lot of skills, we can work as a virtual assistant and focus on our favorite tasks. I I believe that everyone can be equipped with knowledge and skills if they are innovative, willing to learn and always has the right attitude to do whatever it takes to reach his/her personal goals and aspiration. Step by step, we can support our family and make our dreams come true.
